For the most part, technology executives at law firms are a remarkably satisfied bunch: A stunning 96 percent of the 126 law firm technology executives queried in our 12th annual AmLaw Tech Survey say they are generally satisfied with their job. About the same percentage are pleased with management’s recent decisions regarding firm technology. And a large majority of the IT executives say they’re treated with respect by lawyers at their firm.

Most of the technology chiefs (92 percent) are also satisfied with their compensation. That’s not surprising, considering that nearly 40 percent of these executives say they received compensation of more than $300,000, including bonus, in 2006. That’s up from the 29 percent who were able to say that in last year’s survey. Not only are they content, they are sharing the wealth as well: The survey shows that the size of IT staffs is growing at most law firms.
