FBI Raid Shuts Down Suspected Spammer

FBI agents in September raided the home of a man described as one of the nation's most prolific spammers, according to warrants unsealed last week. Alan M. Ralsky, who has been the target of anti-spam actions in the past, says the FBI essentially forced him out of business by confiscating his equipment. Verizon sued him in 2001, claiming he clogged its networks with millions of e-mails; Ralsky settled. Recent federal laws have banned solicitation techniques popular with spammers.
