Facing firepower from a top securities class action firm, Sullivan & Cromwell partners Robert Giuffra Jr. and Matthew Schwartz on Thursday racked up a win on behalf of department store Kohl's Corp. and two of its executives in Wisconsin federal court.

The pair, along with co-counsel from Godfrey & Kahn S.C, persuaded U.S. District Judge J.P. Stadtmueller of the Eastern District of Wisconsin to dismiss with prejudice a putative securities fraud class action by Kohl's shareholders.

Giuffra is best-known for his work on behalf of VW and Fiat Chrysler in the diesel emissions suits, and was also reportedly one of the elite lawyers who declined to represent Donald Trump.
