McKool Smith’s Robert Allen scored a win before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in a copyright fight over ‘golden oldies’—music recorded before 1972. On behalf of record companies that own recordings by artists such as Al Green, Jackie Wilson and The Everly Brothers, Allen convinced the appellate panel to reverse and remand a decision that had favored broadcaster CBS.
