Let me preface this by saying that I think Quinn Emanuel has an excellent PR team, one of the best in the business.

But I can't resist a little gentle mocking after they emailed a story pitch on Tuesday headlined "Quinn Emanuel associate forges settlement in Ditech bankruptcy."

Jenna GreeneWhat?!

Were there fake signatures? Counterfeit documents?

Alas no.

Senior associate Victor Noskov forged—as in constructed, formed, created, established, set up, put together—the settlement on behalf of the consumer creditors' committee in the Ditech Holding Corp. bankruptcy. First, Noskov won an order denying the billion-dollar sale of the mortgage company, and then he "forged" the deal.

Soon after sending the first press release to one of my ALM colleagues, firm PR reps sent a revised version headlined "Quinn Emanuel associate CRAFTS settlement in Ditech bankruptcy." (Capitalization in the original.)

Which is very nice—but not nearly as interesting as a rogue associate faking a deal. If any of you happen to have a press release about that … please, send it my way.
