Steptoe & Johnson LLP on Monday announced a major lateral acquisition: Michael Bromwich, who joins the firm as senior counsel.

You might recall seeing Bromwich by Christine Blasey Ford's side during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings. He's also currently representing former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, whose indictment may or may not have been recently rejected by a grand jury.

Bromwich has got a long and impressive legal resume—he was one of three courtroom lawyers who prosecuted Oliver North in the Iran Contra scandal; served as inspector general of the Department of Justice from 1994 to 1999; and was tasked by President Obama to oversee the creation of three new agencies to replace the disgraced Minerals Management Service after the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster. He's also a former partner at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, and more recently, at Robbins, Russell, Englert, Orseck, Untereiner & Sauber.
