Honorable mention for Litigator of the Week goes to Sidley Austin's Tacy Flint, Dave Gordon and Rob Velevis. Working pro bono, the trio scored a major win on Monday for their client, the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, and for families adversely affected by Trump Administration's immigration policies.

Flint successfully argued that the Trump Administration's "public charge" rule, which was slated to go into effect on Oct. 15, exceeded the executive branch's authority under federal immigration law. The administration's rule would have deemed immigrants who received even small amounts of non-cash public benefits, such as food stamps or Medicaid coverage to be ineligible for admission to the United States or for adjustment of status to become lawful permanent residents.

And at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, Douglas Anthony Rettew, Patrick J. Rodgers and Morgan Elizabeth Smith earned a victory at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit for client Ambev.

The appeals court upheld a decision by the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board that Brazilian beverage company Cervejaria Petropolis had abandoned its FUSION mark after three consecutive years of non-use. The decision clears the way for Ambev's Fusion energy drink in the United States.
