After peaking in 2019, revenue was down for Los Angeles-based Munger, Tolles & Olson in 2020, along with profitability, reflecting the impact of court closures and delayed hearings on a firm that focuses on trial and appellate work.

“Because of the litigation-heavy nature of our practice, the pandemic and the court closures and delay of jury trials—certainly at the start of 2020 and ongoing—have had some effect on our financial projections,” said Malcolm Heinicke, the firm’s co-managing partner. “Despite that effect, we were very pleased with our revenue this year.”
