This morning we once again check in with newly-minted partners who have discussed their professional journeys with our Law.com colleagues over the past year as part of the “How I Made It” series. But while we focused on new partners in firms we’d characterize as Big Law in prior columns, today we’re going to highlight four lawyers who practice in smaller shops: Kelly Page at Recht Kornfeld in Denver, Priyanka Timblo at New York boutique Holwell Shuster & Goldberg, Andrew Ulmer at Pfau Cochran Vertetis Amala in Tacoma, Washington, and Stuart Weissman at Ratzan Weissman & Boldt in Miami.

This quartet highlights the striking amount of practice diversity out there in boutique law firms. Lumber and Weissman both practice in plaintiff-side shops handling complex commercial injury cases, although across the country from one another. Page, meanwhile, handles white-collar defense, antitrust and criminal law work in a Colorado boutique that also does lobbying and political work, and Timblo handles a mix of high-stakes commercial litigation and arbitration work in a 60-lawyer shop founded by former Big Law partners.
