Welcome to the second part of our discussion with Pete Welch, the senior vice president and deputy general counsel, product and publishing at Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., the video game company behind the Rockstar Games and 2K labels.

Yesterday we talked about Welch’s background in private practice, where he practiced as an associate Morgan & Finnegan and Davis & Gilbert, and how his practice at Take-Two has changed since he joined as the company’s fourth lawyer 18 years ago. This morning we’re going to spend some more time letting Welch reflect on a trial he was intensely involved in where an Ohio jury found Take-Two had an implied license to use images that a tattoo artist had inked onto Lebron James’ shoulders—a major win for its NBA 2K line of games and the media industry more broadly.
