Our friends at The American Lawyer went live with their annual Pro Bono Scorecard last week, and it included some somewhat encouraging news. 

The 120 firms who participated tallied 5.15 million total pro bono hours, an increase of 2.8% over 2022. As we noted last year, large law firms’ pro bono efforts took a significant dip after reaching a high in 2020, the first year of the global pandemic, when firms dedicated 5.45 million hours to pro bono. Although last year saw a continued uptick in pro bono, total hours still fell short of the 5.358 million hours firms dedicated in 2019, before the pandemic took hold in the U.S.
