First up this week are Robert Carroll, Robert Frederickson, Alexandra Valenti and their trial team at Goodwin Procter, who won a $452 million verdict for client Insulet Corp. in a trade secrets case against Korean rival EOFlow Co. After a four-week trial, federal jurors in Boston found that EOFlow and certain employees hired from Insulet misappropriated trade secrets to create a competitor to Insulet’s Omnipod, a lightweight, wearable insulin pump for people with diabetes. Jurors awarded $170 million in compensatory damages and an additional $282 million in exemplary damages after finding EOFlow willfully and maliciously misappropriated three of Insulet’s trade secrets. The Goodwin team also included partners Alexandra Lu and Scott Bluni, associates James Breen, Jenny Zhang, Timothy Keegan, Danit Maor, William Evans, Matthew Ginther and Arsh Raince, law clerk Shweta Rao, paralegal trial specialist Albert Lessard, senior paralegal Alison Fitzgerald and case assistant Sophie Scola.
