I’ve previously touched on the parallels between the type of storytelling you find in journalism and the work litigators do to build fact-based narratives to make the case that their clients are on the right side of the law. But the storytelling parallels run even closer between litigators and public relations professionals hired to work on high-profile legal disputes. Indeed, they might intersect at times.

That thought sprang to mind as I listened to the debut episode of “The Intersection,” a podcast about crafting stories for the court of law and the court of public opinion co-hosted by Michael Sitrick, the founder and CEO of crisis management firm Sitrick and Company, and Sallie Hofmeister, a former journalist and senior partner at the firm. In their first episode, the pair sat down with Matthew Schwartz, who took on the role of chairman at Boies Schiller Flexner at the turn of the year.
