Back in May 2013, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s Miguel Estrada convinced an appellate court that his client, the cable giant Comcast Corporation, didn’t improperly discriminate against the Tennis Channel when it refused to make the network as widely available to subscribers as other sports channels. The decision, which reversed a ruling by the Federal Communications Commission, earned Estrada our recognition as Litigator of the Week and was widely viewed as a check on the FCC’s power to regulate the cable industry.

On Monday, Estrada and his Gibson Dunn partners cemented that victory when the U.S. Supreme Court declined to take up the Tennis Channel’s appeal. Tennis Channel was represented by Stephen Weiswasser of Covington & Burling.
