Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd made a clumsy entrance on Thursday into litigation over concussions in pro sports, filing a class action complaint against the National Hockey League that included a few attention-grabbing typos and factual errors. Silverman Thompson Slutkin White, which brought a similar case against the NHL five months ago, doesn’t seem thrilled about the development.
Robbins Geller assembled a group of nine former NHL players—none of them household names—and brought suit in U.S. district court in Manhattan. The suit, which seeks class action status, alleges that the league glamorized violence while actively misleading players about the potential dangers of head injuries.
