SAN FRANCISCO — Google asked the Federal Circuit on Wednesday to nudge a high-profile patent dispute with the Rockstar consortium of technology companies to Google’s home turf in Silicon Valley, following conflicting rulings from Judge Claudia Wilken in Oakland and Judge Rodney Gilstrap in Marshall, Texas.

Wilken granted Google’s motion for declaratory judgment jurisdiction in April, saying Rockstar—a patent holding company partly owned by Apple—had created “a sham entity for the sole purpose of avoiding jurisdiction” outside of Texas.
