O’Melveny & Myers scored a speedy appellate victory on Monday in a battle between past and present television titans, persuading a panel to reject patent infringement claims by Japan’s Hitachi Consumer Electronics Co. against fast-growing Chinese TV manufacturer TPV Technology Ltd.

In a brief order, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld a Texas jury’s defense verdict for TPV in the 4-year-old case. Hitachi, which was represented by Dechert at trial, had brought on appellate big gun Deanne Maynard of Morrison & Foerster to argue the appeal. O’Melveny’s Jonathan Hacker argued for TPV.
