Big law firms shuddered in December 2013, when a federal judge in New York allowed low-level contract attorneys to proceed with a class action against Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan for overtime pay. But the threat of big overtime damages for law firms has been diminished, thanks to a ruling that Stephanie Aranyos and Brian Gershengorn of Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart won in a similar case against Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
