After a string of adverse rulings in a battle over the rights to pre-1972 music, Sirius XM Radio Inc. has completely replaced its legal team with a squad of lawyers from O’Melveny & Myers, led by Daniel Petrocelli.
Gone are Weil, Gotshal & Manges; Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton; and Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel. The firms had been defending Sirius XM in litigation brought by recording artists and labels that contend that the satellite radio company has infringed their copyrights by playing their music.
