Dredging up memories that the company would sooner forget, Deloitte & Touche LLP is suddenly facing a trial over its role as auditor for Adelphia Communications Corp., the once-mighty cable company that imploded spectacularly in 2002.

In a decision issued Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman in Manhattan refused to toss breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation claims brought against Deloitte by Zito Media LP, a successor of a business entity tied to the Rigas family that ran Adelphia before its collapse.
