Will the U.S. Supreme Court make it easier to “pick off” named plaintiffs in class actions, creating a short cut to exiting the litigation?

On Monday, the high court granted certiorari in Campbell-Ewald vs. Gomez, which asks whether defendants can derail class actions before they’re certified by offering the named plaintiff full individual relief. The circuits are split on whether to allow the maneuver, which is often used in cases where plaintiffs are seeking statutory damages.
