Two months ago, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro made waves in Chicago when it filed a class action to recover campaign donations to beleaguered former U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock. Now the tribulations of another big name in Chicago’s seamy politics have pulled Hagens Berman back into the spotlight—only this time the firm is on the defensive.

The politician in question is Edward Vrdolyak, an influential (and controversial) former Chicago alderman with the nickname “Fast Eddie.” Late last week, the Chicago Tribune reported that Vrdolyak is one of two unnamed individuals at the center of an indictment targeting a 63-year-old lawyer, Daniel Soso, for alleged tax evasion. The other individual named but not charged in the indictment, the Tribune reports, is Hagens Berman managing partner Steven Berman.
