In a battle over foreign oil and gas assets, the Republic of Kazakhstan has won a ruling that the New York office of U.K.-based law firm Clyde & Co must turn over information about the value of an oil and gas plant seized by the republic. On Monday Manhattan U.S. District Judge Sidney Stein upheld a subpoena for Clyde & Co documents sought by the Republic of Kazakhstan. The ruling comes in a so-called Section 1782 proceeding, which allows parties to seek discovery in the U.S. that may help them in foreign courts.

The Republic of Kazakhstan is represented by a Norton Rose Fulbright team led by Matthew Kirtland and Felice Galant.
