Don’t get me wrong—I love law firm publicists. I couldn’t do my job without them. But after 18 years as a legal journalist, I have to confess that there are some things they do that consistently bug me.

Much of the blame, I suspect, lies with the law firms who hire them. But how publicists do their job matters more than ever in an age when a potential client is likely to Google a lawyer before committing to representation.
