The federal government has agreed to a financial settlement in a trademark dispute over the Obama administration's “myRA” retirement services program, according to a lawyer for the private company that filed suit. The amount was not immediately disclosed.

My Retirement Account Services LLC, a Kentucky-based company that runs a site with the web address GetMyRA.com, filed a lawsuit in October in the federal district court in Washington claiming the name of the government's program was “confusingly similar.” The company notified the court on Dec. 24 that it was dropping the case.

Kyle Anne Citrynell of Seiller Waterman in Louisville, Ky., lead counsel for My Retirement Account Services, said in a phone interview on Monday that the government agreed to “substantially compensate my client” in exchange for having the case dropped.
