Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., on Thursday restarted his push to curb abusive patent litigation, offering the Innovation Act to stop patent trolls.
Goodlatte, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said at a Capitol Hill news conference that the legislation will confront the “ever-increasing problem” of frivolous patent lawsuits. The Innovation Act cleared the House in the last Congress but didn't make it out of the Senate.
Passing the bill is a “priority” in the House, Goodlatte said, and he plans to move “expeditiously” on it. There is no timeline for action on the measure, he said.
