Xcel Energy Inc.’s legal department wants the company to mirror its community. It taps into an internal diversity committee, legal industry initiatives and community volunteering to help foster inclusiveness.

“We think we’re a better corporation overall, and certainly a better law department, if we reflect the communities we serve. That is an effort you have to make fairly consciously in order to achieve the goal,” said general counsel Scott Wilensky.
