A new fellowship program at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law will send students and graduates in-house to learn about corporate clients' needs and gain marketable experience.

Under the school's Business Fellowship Program, four 2015 graduates will spend a year working at Baltimore-area corporations, in either their legal departments or business operations. The hosts will pay the fellows stipends of between $50,000 and $60,000 and will provide mentoring and hands-on work, dean Donald Tobin said.

The companies will benefit by junior-level legal talent with no obligation to hire the fellows in permanent jobs.
