The Charleston School of Law interim president has resigned after less than three months on the job amid turmoil over ownership of the for-profit institution.

Joseph Harbaugh stepped down from the post on Aug. 27 but said he would try to continue through Oct. 1 and would be available thereafter as an “occasional consultant.” His contract extended to December.

Harbaugh's predecessor as president of the school, Maryann Jones, lasted just eight days in the position in November before resigning. She cited infighting among the school's owners as the impetus for her departure. Prior to Jones, current law dean Andy Abrams was also the school's president.
