What was the most valuable lesson you learned in your first year of practice? I learned very early that the core of the practice of law is not about thinking big thoughts or writing perfect briefs, but to serve and represent clients zealously and ethically, and that every task, from document review to standing up in court, should be geared toward that purpose.

Describe your biggest win or accomplishment in practice. I am proud of a very favorable settlement that we reached for [ex-Noble Corp. exec] Jim Ruehlen on the eve of what would have been the SEC’s first FCPA trial. It was a hard-fought case that ended in a victory for a deserving client.
