It's a confusing time for intellectual property law. Sometimes the lateral market is swinging boutique IP firms back into larger partnerships. This week, a group of lawyers from a larger firm set out on their own.

Oblon, McLelland, Maier & Neustadt lost chemical patent partners Kirsten Gruneberg and Richard Chinn and senior associate Eric Myers. The group set up a Tysons, Virginia-based boutique where they'll all be partners, called Gruneberg and Myers.
