A year ago today, on May 17, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed then-Wilmer Hale partner Robert Mueller III to lead the investigation of Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election. Mueller built a team of prosecutors from Wilmer and elsewhere in the U.S. Justice Department, snagging white-collar and appellate specialists. Several figures in Trump's orbit, including his former campaign manager and a foreign policy advisor, were charged with crimes arising from the Russia investigation.
