It's the final stretch of the Supreme Court term with rulings still to come in a few nail-biter cases. But before the justices zip off for their summer vacations, we're pausing to take stock of the big decisions and what's ahead.

On this Legal Speak podcast, Law.com Supreme Court correspondent Tony Mauro breaks down the term with Kannon Shanmugam, a partner at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

Shanmugam, one of the country's most distinguished Supreme Court advocates, has argued 27 appeals at the high court, including four this term. He describes the cases he's watching and what it's like to argue before the court's newest member, Justice Brett Kavanaugh. (It “hasn't gotten any easier,” Shanmugam says.)

Shanmugam, who was the only lawyer ever to join D.C.'s Williams & Connolly as a lateral partner, also talks about his decision to leave earlier this year and launch a Supreme Court practice at Paul Weiss.
