The Federal Bureau of Investigation is quickly becoming a farm system for King & Spalding, and vice versa.

On Monday, the firm said it added the FBI's Sumon Dantiki to its ranks as a partner in its special matters and government investigations group. Dantiki was most recently senior counsel at the agency, and his arrival follows closely on the heels of Zack Harmon, former FBI chief of staff, who announced his return to the firm last week.

"We have a long and proud history of our lawyers serving the public interest, including current FBI director Chris Wray and his former chief of staff, Zack Harmon, who worked closely with Sumon at the FBI," said Mark Jensen, managing partner of King & Spalding's D.C. office, in a statement. "Sumon's national security credentials are impeccable, and along with Zack's deep expertise, as a pair they offer companies, financial firms and research laboratories extraordinary insight into how to protect their data and technologies from global cybersecurity threats."

Prior to leaving FBI, Dantiki advised the bureau leadership primarily on national security matters involving cybersecurity, data hacks, privacy and enforcement risks involving new technology. He was previously a federal prosecutor with the Department of Justice's criminal division and with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland. Earlier he was an associate at Covington & Burling.

"King & Spalding is a perfect platform for me, with a strong lineup of excellent lawyers who can assist clients on the full range of economic risks that could impact their most important business interests, domestic and foreign," Dantiki said in a statement. "I am extremely excited to be joining such a distinguished team and look forward to helping further develop their cutting-edge national security and global cybersecurity counseling practice."

Dantiki is the 10th partner to join King & Spalding's D.C. office from outside the firm thus far in the calendar year 2019.
