A federal judge in Washington, D.C., has dismissed Republicans’ lawsuit challenging the House’s proxy voting rules adopted during the pandemic, finding that Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other House officials are immune from facing the complaint.

U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras of the District of Columbia issued the ruling Thursday, writing that the Constitution’s speech and debate clause—which blocks lawsuits against members of Congress over legislative actions—applied to the voting lawsuit.
