Memorials have been pouring in for late Senior Judge Stephen Williams since his death Friday, with attorneys, colleagues and former clerks remembering him for his expertise in administrative law, long-standing intellectual curiosity and kindness to those he worked alongside at the court.

Williams, who died of COVID-19 at the age of 83, sat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit since his appointment by President Ronald Reagan in 1986. There he frequently wrote insightful opinions on administrative law, particularly on energy and other regulatory law.
