A former FBI lawyer is expected to plead guilty in Washington to falsifying a document under an agreement with the federal prosecutor who is overseeing a criminal inquiry into the origins of the Russia investigation.

Prosecutors on Friday filed an information against Kevin Clinesmith, an FBI lawyer from 2015 to 2019 who admitted to altering an email that federal investigators relied upon to renew their court-authorized surveillance of Carter Page, an adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
