Recent settlements between two big law firms and the U.S. Department of Labor over race and gender equity are a reminder that plaintiffs and courtroom judges aren't the only ones who scrutinize pay practices.
Labor Department inquiries of Sidley Austin and Locke Lord have resulted in settlements in the last month to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars over issues such as diversity scholarships, bonuses and wages owed to female associates.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
