Trump v. Mazars/Deutsche Bank: Consovoy McCarthy successfully represented President Donald Trump, his family members and associated businesses in the U.S. Supreme Court in two consolidated cases involving broad subpoenas from Congress for years’ worth of personal financial documents. The firm convinced the Supreme Court to grant emergency stays of the subpoenas and grant certiorari. Then, on the merits, a majority of the court held that the decisions below “did not take adequate account” of the “special concerns regarding the separation of powers” presented by the subpoenas. This is one of the most important separation-of-powers decisions of the last several decades.
