Kevin Clinesmith, a former FBI lawyer who pleaded guilty to falsifying an email that was relied upon to renew surveillance of a Trump campaign adviser amid the Russia investigation, should be sentenced to prison for up to six months, prosecutors said Thursday.

Clinesmith admitted in August that he had doctored an email in 2017 concerning past relations between the CIA and the former Trump adviser, Carter Page, as the FBI sought to renew court-authorized surveillance of him during the Russia investigation.
