Attorneys from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and civil rights organizations are suing a far-right group on behalf of a historic Black church in Washington, D.C., that was allegedly vandalized last month by members of the group.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in D.C. Superior Court on behalf of the Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, named as defendants the Proud Boys and the group’s chairman, Enrique Tarrio. The complaint cites the group’s ties to white nationalism and opposition to the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as Tarrio reportedly claiming credit for the destruction of Black Lives Matter signs at Black churches in D.C.
