Alejandro Mayorkas, the Biden administration’s pick to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, reported earning more than $3.31 million in partnership share over the past two years from the law firm Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, according to a newly released financial disclosure revealing a host of major U.S. clients that would set ethics boundaries early on during his time in public service.

Mayorkas, formerly an Obama-era DHS official, has been a partner at Wilmer, one of Washington’s largest firms, since 2016. Partners and associates at the firm have long snagged high-level government roles, particularly during Democratic presidential administrations. Earlier in his career, Mayorkas was a partner at O’Melveny & Myers.
