A top administrative official for the federal judiciary has declined a request to allow the livestreaming of all federal court proceedings in Capitol riot cases, pointing to a current block on that kind of access in the rules governing how criminal cases are conducted.
In a letter sent Monday, Roslynn Mauskopf, the new director for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, wrote that the current federal rule “prohibits the taking of photographs in the courtroom during judicial proceedings or the broadcasting of judicial proceedings from the courtroom,” unless allowed under those same rules or by law.
