The Minnesota Court of Appeals, which has one week to determine whether ex-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin can be tried for third-degree murder in the killing of George Floyd, heard arguments Monday over whether its own decision in another case became a precedent when it was issued or if a trial court need not follow it, until a set Supreme Court review period passes.
