Attorneys for Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers are asking a pair of federal judges to impose sanctions and attorneys fees in lawsuits filed over the state’s results in the 2020 election, warning that not doing so would lead to future frivolous lawsuits over upcoming races.

Lawyers with Stafford Rosenbaum, who represented the Democratic governor in the post-election suits, filed the motions in a lawsuit from then-President Donald Trump, as well as another election challenge from a team of lawyers including Sidney Powell and Lin Wood. In both cases, the attorneys said the lawsuits were “frivolous, dilatory, and without any merit.”
