A number of attorneys have left the House General Counsel’s Office as congressional legal fights with the executive branch have dropped off—some for jobs in the Biden administration.
Former House deputy general counsel Megan Barbero last week marked the latest departure from the office as she took a job with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, also as a deputy general counsel, according to her LinkedIn profile. Her departure was revealed July 9 as she filed notices to withdraw in the House’s remaining lawsuits, and she is no longer listed on the general counsel office’s website. Barbero did not return multiple requests for comment, and the SEC did not immediately return a request for comment.
