President Joe Biden on Tuesday named Jonathan Kanter, a former Big Law partner who has criticized the alleged monopoly power of major technology companies, to lead the U.S. Department of Justice’s antitrust division.

The antitrust role was one of Biden’s most anticipated Justice Department nominations because of the administration’s growing focus on corporate mergers and anticompetitive behavior, especially in Silicon Valley.
