The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Morgan, Lewis & Bockius white-collar partner Kenneth Polite as the new head of the U.S. Department of Justice’s criminal division, giving the Garland DOJ a new point person on cases involving financial fraud, public corruption and cybercrime.

Polite was confirmed as assistant attorney general by a vote of 56-44. He will oversee more than 450 attorneys who investigate and prosecute much of the DOJ’s corporate enforcement efforts and have played a central role in investigating fraud related to the government’s pandemic relief programs.
