When a magistrate judge in Colorado on Wednesday ordered a pair of lawyers to pay attorney fees in a frivolous election lawsuit, it appeared to mark the first time federal court sanctions were issued in the post-2020 election litigation.

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., had previously ordered a lawyer behind a separate election lawsuit to face a grievance committee, a ruling that is now up on appeal.
