President Joe Biden has nominated Acting U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar, a former Cooley partner, to become U.S. solicitor general.

Prelogar, who initially was tapped to be principal deputy solicitor general, has been working in the office in the acting capacity since the start of the Biden administration in January.

A Harvard Law graduate, Prelogar clerked  for Attorney General Merrick Garland when he was a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and later for U.S. Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan.
